The mission of the North of Scotland Genetic Service is to promote health and well-being in patients and families affected by inherited illnesses through provision of an equitable and high quality clinical and laboratory genetics service for the people of the North of Scotland.

The Human Genetics Unit is a collaboration between the University of Dundee and NHS Tayside. The Unit brings together disciplines from research, diagnostic and service based laboratories providing an environment that aims to augment the activities of its constituent groups.
(Western General Hospital, Edinburgh)
The Genetic Service is based at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. The Service runs a number of genetic clinical across Lothian, Borders and Fife. Several specialist clinics including Neurogenetics, Marfan Syndrome and Endocrine Genetics, are held in Edinburgh.
West of Scotland Genetic Services (Southern General Hospital, Glasgow)
The laboratories of the West of Scotland Genetic Services are located on Level 2B of the Laboratory Medicine Building at Southern Hospital. Level 2b has laboratory facilities for Biochemical, Molecular and Cytogenetic analyses and has close links with Clinical Genetics Services in addition Paediatric and Maternity specialities. The Clinical Genetics Service is located on level 2a.
